The scoping period for the environmental assessment for the Barton Stateline project has been extended to Feb. 7, according to a notice I received on Tuesday. Visit BartonProject@trpa.gov for more information.

A fiber line broken by a fallen pole caused Friday’s outage for customers in Minden and Gardnerville early Friday. It took technicians through to 6 a.m. Saturday to restore it, according to the company. That fiber is a project to fix once it’s broken.

Douglas County’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.8 percent in December, reflecting 1,093 jobless workers to 21,651 employed. That’s 241 more workers than December 2023.

We’re looking at sunny skies and a high temperature of 49 degrees today with the wind out of the southeast at 5 mph calming in the afternoon. Thursday is will be a tad warmer before the rain is forecast to arrive on Friday morning.
