Matthew John Farag, 45, was arrested June 12, 2023, with 14.6 grams of methamphetamine and was granted diversion on June 26, 2023, hearing. He was ordered to enter and complete drug court as a condition of diversion, which he did, but he tested positive for cocaine on two occasions.
“He did complete the program, he’s just struggling,” said defense attorney Mary Brown.
Brown argued that Farag is an example of what can happen after drug court.
“I thought I was prepared,” said Farag. “ I didn’t know what life was going to throw at me and I didn’t face it how I should have.”
Farag’s diversion was extended for 12 months and was ordered to repeat the drug program and obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow the recommendations.
