Douglas High School baseball will induct its 2025 Hall of Fame class March 29 when the Tigers host North Valleys.
The induction ceremony is set to take place in-between games of the doubleheader. Game one is expected to start at 11 a.m.
Douglas head coach Jim Tucker said the ceremony will center on the dedication of the Hall of Fame to Hal Wheeler.
Wheeler is the winningest coach in program history, coaching from 1980 to 1994 before returning for a season in 2002.
The Hall of Fame will now be called “Hal Wheelers’ Douglas baseball Hall of Fame.”
Joining Wheeler will be three inductees in Brady Ovard, Kaleb Foster and Jon Storke.
Ovard played from 1995 to 1998 as a left-handed pitcher and outfielder.
As a senior he led the team in batting average (.348), on-base percentage (.471), runs (24), triples (6) and walks (11).
He held a 2.53 ERA on the mound and went on to play football and baseball at Menlo College and Lassen College.
Ovard was inducted into the Douglas football Hall of Fame in 2009.
Foster was a catcher for the Tigers from 2012 to 2015 where he earned Northern Nevada Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior.
He went on to play four years of baseball at Nevada before joining the Pittsburgh Pirates as an undrafted free agent.
Storke was a varsity player in 1995 and 1996.
He was a second team all-conference shortstop as a senior, going on to play at Cuesta College and Pima College before finishing at Fresno State.
In 1996 he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and in 1997 the San Francisco Giants called his name on draft day
In 1999, he signed a contract as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles.
