The Nevada State Police are confirming a fatality in a collision that occurred just before 7 a.m. on Highway 50 in Glenbrook Canyon involving multiple vehicles. Tahoe Douglas firefighters and Douglas County deputies also responded to the scene. 

Motorists should anticipate the highway to be shut down for some time this morning. One person was helicoptered from the scene and another transported via ground ambulance, both to Renown Regional Medical Center, according to Tahoe Douglas firefighters on scene.

Verizon is seeking a spot for a 5G cell tower at Douglas High School between the football field and the tennis courts. They are scheduled to present a request to the Douglas County School Board 4 p.m. today at the Airport Training Center, 1126 Airport Road Building G-1.

Douglas County commissioners will hear an update on the Tahoe Blue Event Center’s first year at their 10 a.m. meeting in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden. They are also scheduled to discuss moving the indigent attorney coordinator in-house.

Winter left on the wind at 2 a.m. today with a 54 mph gust reported at Walleys Hot Springs at 12:20 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The first day of spring is forecast to see partly sunny skies with a high temperature of 53 degrees and the wind out of the west at 5-10 mph.
