Friends and family are sharing their memories of Minden resident and longtime Record-Courier contributor Stacey Weatherbee, who died March 8, 2025, at the age of 52.

A celebration of life for Weatherbee is scheduled for June 20 at her home on Esmeralda Avenue, a few doors down from Minden Park to coincide with the concert in the park.

Born June 23, 1972, in Vista Calif., she moved to Carson Valley in 1996.

She married Chris Weatherbee at the CVIC Hall in 2016.

A longtime employee of Comstock Seed, she was working at Luke Landscape Contractors just before her death.

She was one of the first participants in The R-C’s Running Commentary, which started in 2009. She would often be the first one on the commentary in the morning. She was one of several moderators on the commentary, and in the early years, when the software required someone to keep an eye on it, the newspaper’s staff would entrust her.

As such, she shared in the newspaper’s numerous online awards over the years that recognized the commentary as something important to recordcourier.com.

“She was such a faithful contributor, and I had enjoyed getting to know her over the years,” said former R-C Internet and Sports Editor Joey Crandall.

Weatherbee was an early riser and often was one of the first people to say “good morning” at the beginning of each day, something she did regularly until she became sick. That greeting was her last post on March 5.

She spent several weeks during the first part of 2025 in the hospital and didn’t come home until a few days before her death.

She is survived by Chris, her parents Doris and Bruce Claude, siblings Danny, Brian, Donna, Marie, Jeanette and Diane, son Jimmy (Alexis) Blakey, grandchildren Kensley and Bryson.
