Genoa, Nev. — Tahoe Douglas firefighters are going to be pile burning on roughly five acres on Kingsbury Grade starting 9 a.m. The smoke will be visible in Carson Valley, according to the district.
Douglas County commissioners will enter the second day of their four-day budget sessions 10 a.m. today with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. I’m going to wrap all that up for Saturday’s edition.
Speaking of budgets, East Fork Fire Protection District trustees will discuss the district’s $28.8 million tentative budget at their regular meeting 1 p.m. today at the district offices, 1694 County Road in Minden.
A total of 159 observers across six Western states including Nevada reported a bright light in the sky at 9:04 p.m. Monday, according to the American Meteor Society’s web site. The site says that the object could be re-entry debris from the Dragon Freedom-2 DEB that was launched on Sept. 28, 2024.
A Reno man accused of driving the wrong way Thursday morning on Highway 50 while under the influence and causing a death and severe injuries appeared in Tahoe Township Justice Court on Monday where an April 8 arraignment was set.
While this winter was the fourth warmest in the central Sierra over the past 130 years, it appears that it will still eke out a near average snowpack. Depending on how warm this spring gets, that could last until June, or all come down over the next three weeks.
Today’s not going to help matters with the forecast high temperature hitting 77 degrees in Minden under sunny skies. Temperatures are expected to cool down by Friday which could bring some showers.
