Genoa, Nev. — A bill that would transfer around 7,777 acres of public land to Douglas County for flood management and other public purposes and 1,084 acres for open space was reintroduced into Congress on Tuesday, according to Rep. Mark Amodei.


District Attorney Mark Jackson told county commissioners on Tuesday that the driver in custody in connection with a fatal collision at Glenbrook faces a vehicular homicide charge because he has prior DUI convictions. Jackson said he considers that a fourth homicide case being prosecuted this year.


East Fork Chief Alan Ernst said Tuesday that the boundary drop agreement with Tahoe Douglas bore fruit for Monday’s structure fire in the Gardnerville Ranchos. We’ll see a lot more instances where East Fork responds to incidents near Spooner and Tahoe Douglas responds to Foothill incidents is the easy way to explain it.


Just as East Fork and Tahoe Douglas have dropped the boundary between them, Ernst told East Fork Fire District trustees that he plans to unite the district’s career and volunteer personnel.


It feels like March is leaving like a lion as a high wind watch 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, bringing 25-30 mph southwest winds gusting to 50 mph.


We’re not going to avoid the wind today, either, with 15-20 mph southwest winds, gusting to 30 mph this afternoon. The forecast 74-degree high today will drop a dozen degrees by Thursday and into the 50s by Friday.
