Douglas High School girls track and field finished in second place Saturday at Bishop Manogue High School during the Elite 8 Invitational.
The Tigers finished with 115 team points, just missing Spanish Springs in the top spot (120.5).
The Tiger boys were eighth of nine teams with 36.5 points.
For the girls, Grace Strabala-Karosich was third in the 100-meter dash in 12.73. The junior took second in the 200 with a time of 26.37.
In the 800, Krystle Dixon and Logan Axtell were second and third, respectively, while Ayla Nelson was fifth.
Axtell won the 1,600 in a season-best time of 5:58.51 while Nelson was second in 6:16.45.
Rachel Girdner took second place in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.37 while Katelyn Coons was third with a mark of 49.24.
The Tiger girls 4x200 meter relay team of Anna Patmont, Coons, Girdner and Strabala-Karosich won the event in 1:47.03.
Strabala-Karosich went on to take second in the long jump, too, hitting the sand with a mark of 15-05.75.
Malena Van Wagenen was fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 4 feet, 6 inches.
On the boys side, CJ Bera was third in the 400 with a personal record of 52.23 while junior Darryl Hinkle was fourth in 53.67.
Senior Sage Spencer was third in the 1,600 in 5:01.27 for the Tigers.
Nathaniel Blair posted a PR time of 11:56.09 to finish third in the 3,200.

DOUGLAS SOFTBALL WINS THREE OF FIVE IN VEGAS
The Tiger softball team traveled to Las Vegas last weekend.
Douglas won three of its five contests, downing Trabuco Hills (6-2), Sam Clemente (2-0) and Foothill (8-2). The Tigers lost to Poly (6-0) and Lehi (8-3).
In the 6-2 win over Trabuco Hills, Cam McLelland struck out 10 hitters in four innings.
She helped herself out by blasting her third home run.
Freshman Ida Martin was 2-for-2 with a home run.
Against San Clemente, senior Annie Hill tripled while McLelland had two doubles and an RBI. She struck out eight in seven innings.
In the Tigers’ final win, Cam McLelland, Marissa McLelland, Cam Coats and Haylie Pledger all drive in one RBI.
Hill had a home run and a double with two RBIs in the 8-3 loss to Lehi while Hill, Hailee Lister and Maddie Lister all tallied hits in the 6-0 loss to Poly.
UP NEXT: Douglas (7-3, 2-0 in Class 5A North league play) will take on Chico (2-1), Reno (0-12-1) and Dayton (10-3) this Friday in a tournament in Reno.
DOUGLAS BASEBALL GRABS A WIN IN ANAHEIM
Douglas High baseball picked up a 10-5 win over Esperanza in its tournament last weekend in Anaheim, Calif.
In its other four contests, the Tigers fell to Yorba Linda (12-5), El Toro (8-5), Citrus Valley (9-4) and San Clemente (12-1).
In the win, the Tigers got a double and two RBIs from Jeffrey Peters as well as a pair of RBIs from Aiden Tarlo.
JT Lopez, Jackson Ovard, Jake Hoover and Jared Peters all were credited with an RBI.
Colt Cummins knocked in a run against Yorba Linda, El Toro and San Clemente.
Tarlo drove in an RBI against Yorba Linda as well as three RBIs against Citrus Valley.
Jeffrey Peters had another double and RBI in the loss to El Toro.
UP NEXT: Douglas (5-7, 1-0 in Class 5A North league play) hosted Galena (5-4, 1-1) Tuesday before traveling to Damonte Ranch (1-6, 0-2) Thursday.
