Josh Dealy passed away in Carson City on May 26, 2021 leaving behind many friends and admirers. He was 44 years old. He was born September 11, 1976, in Fremont, California, attended White Pine High School and graduated from Carson High School in 1994 and studied to be a computer operator at Western Nevada College.
He began working for the Nevada State Library and Archives’ Imaging and Preservation Program in 1997 when state agencies moved from microfilming their records to scanning them. In his 24 years of service, he scanned, reviewed and indexed millions of state records for the Secretary of State, Gaming Control, Parole and Probation, Human Resources as well as many archival records for NSLA’s digital collections. Because of his attention to detail and focus, his speed and accuracy were amazing. He was incredibly focused on his projects and almost singlehandedly digitized most of those records. When Covid-19 closed many state agencies, he was reassigned to State Mail Services where without question or hesitation, he learned new machines and a new job where because of his attention to detail and focus, his work was exceptional.
One of his favorite moments was when he was introduced to Governor Brian Sandoval at the Governor’s Sesquicentennial Ball in 2014 and the Governor shook his hand and gave him a NV150 commemorative coin. He felt truly honored.
He loved supporting his local bands, dancing and touring Nevada. He was slow to trust, but he was intensely loyal. He supported the Battle Born Chapter of the VFW.
His friends and coworkers held an outdoor “Concert to Celebrate Josh” at Living the Good Life in Carson City on June 19, 2021 where several local bands played his favorite music. If you wish to support Josh, make a donation to the Battle Born Chapter of the VFW or go and dance to one of his favorite local bands.
