After a short illness, Emy went with her Lord on her birthday. She grew up in Woodland, CA and graduated from Woodland High School in 1962. Emy worked as a secretary for the Yolo County Agriculture Dept. and Yolo County General Hospital. She also worked at Mobil Chemical, leaving her secretarial duties behind to become the first woman machine operator at the company.
Emy and her husband, Terry, moved to Minden in 2006 and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville. Emy served on several committees and was loved by all, where she will be remembered for her kind heart, smile and big hugs.
Emy is survived by Terry, her loving husband of 57 years; daughters Angela Swatsley (Keith) and Andrea Mueller (Mick), and son James (Alecia); grandchildren David Gentry and Jake, Joe, and Samantha Morris; great-granddaughter Amelia Gentry; sisters Peggy Nakamura (David) and Ann Butler; her special uncle Neal Butler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie, and her father, Jim.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor John Scheuermann at a later date.
Memorials in Emy’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or Trinity Lutheran Church.
Emy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the first responders, hospital staff at Carson Valley Medical Center, and staff at Infinity Hospice Care.
