Karen Wondka-LeFever passed away peacefully surrounded by love on December 20, 2022, after losing a long battle with Scleroderma. She was 61 years young.
Karen was born on April 30, 1961, in Sacramento, CA and spent her childhood in the Bay Area, graduating early from Newark High School in 1978. She moved to Lake Tahoe in 1979, soon thereafter meeting her husband Guy. They married in 1984 and recently celebrated 38 wonderful years of marriage.
They moved to the Carson Valley in 1985 and shortly after, Karen graduated from the
University of Nevada in 1986 – a very proud Wolf Pack alum. Karen worked for Douglas County as an internal auditor for 13 years and retired in 2011 after many years as a realtor for Century 21.
Karen loved spending her free time playing softball, watching her daughters play soccer, and camping and boating with friends and family. Her desired vacation destination was always somewhere warm, often spending weeks in Mexico fishing and basking in the sun. She was an amazing cook, a lover of cats, and a sewing enthusiast.
She is survived by her devoted husband Guy LeFever of Genoa; loving daughters Kimberly Rogers and Morgan LeFever Bunting; sons-in-law Jeff Rogers and James Bunting; grandchildren Dawson Rogers, Emery Rogers, Breslin Bunting and Beckett Bunting; brother Mike Wondka; and the many friends that were her chosen family in the Carson Valley and beyond. She also has extended family still residing in the Sacramento Area.
Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be greatly missed.
There will be a celebration of life in the coming weeks with more information to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local animal shelter or SPCA in memory of Karen.
