In memory of Nick M. Holt, April 1929 – June 2022 and Faye Trease Holt, December 1930 – August 2021
As the lyrics to Pete Seeger’s song Turn, Turn, Turn say so beautifully, “To everything There is a season, And a time to every purpose, under heaven.” For Nick and Faye, known and loved by so many in their lives, their cycle of “A Time to be born, a time to die” is complete.
Nick and Faye met in Fallon and married in Gardnerville, in 1947, when she was but 16 and he 18. In their youth, their middle years, and on into their golden years their love and devotion were unwavering and remarkable. Their entire lives were spent in Northern Nevada. They were always out and about, raising three boys, camping, fishing, traveling to Mexico with family and friends. Grandchildren and great grandchildren came along. To the great grandchildren they were simply “the greats”.
Nick worked in the masonry business, while Faye was the strength behind the scenes, the voice of common sense paired with his undaunting “can do” approach to life. They loved and lived and relished life together for 74 years. We can all learn from their strength and are blessed to have been part of their world.
They will be greatly missed by all, but we take comfort in that they will be together forever. They chose to forego any traditional services, but each of us can enjoy a moment of pleasure in knowing them when sipping a glass of wine or watching the 49ers!
