In the early morning, of March 19th, 2022 at Carson CityTahoe Hospital, the Smith family lost a loving husband of 62 years, a beloved best Pop ever, and a true American patriot.
Don was a resident of his beloved “beautiful valley” for over 15 years. He was born in Redwing, MN, and he enjoyed sharing his stories about the his carefree life he enjoyed so much growing-up in the small farming town.
In 1950, his family moved to Norwalk, CA where he graduated from Excelsior High School in
1958, met, and married his high school sweetheart Sandra Beswick. They were blessed with a wonderful family Wendy, Scott, and Bradley Smith, Don and Sandy relocated in 1970 to Fremont, CA where Don was atruck driver and raised their three children.
In 1994, they took on a new and loving challenge of raising their grandson Daniel Smith-King.
After retiring in 2005, Don, Sandy, and Daniel moved to Gardnerville, NV where they met so many new friends and neighbors who knew Don for his friendly personality. But his memories will live on through his sisters Judy Davis and Barbara McAllister and his grandchildren:
Julie, Heather, Cody, Alexandra Smith, Jason Deming and Brittney Ali, and his great grandchildren: Jasmine and Jenah Reynolds, Jasper Smith Allen, Caia Smith, Axel
and Severin Deming, as well as four nieces, ten nephews.
