Carolyn Marsh, age 84, of Gardnerville, Nevada, passed away on May 22, 2022.
Born on October 2, 1937 in McComb, Mississippi to James and Beulah Simmons, she grew up in rural Vicksburg until she was 8 years old. Her father moved the family to Oakland California with his job at Southern Pacific Railroad.
She studied at Heald Business College and mastered the skills of front office and accounting, running a doctor’s office front desk for years. Her inner passion continued to be drawing and creating art, which she did into her later years.
She married William Marsh at the First Presbyterian Church in South Lake Tahoe during a blizzard on December 21, 1963. The couple welcomed two daughters and raised them in the Oakland Hills. She enjoyed participating in the kids’ school activities. Later in life as a retiree, she enjoyed volunteering and fostering raccoon & beaver kits for Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care.
Carolyn was known by her friends and family for her sweet smile. She always was quick to give a hug. Her artist’s eye colored how she saw the world, and she was always one to point out the colors or light and what made the world beautiful.
She is survived by her husband, William Marsh; daughters Melinda Pickert and Lisa Terrell; grandchildren Jessica Pickert-Witt, Ryan and Jacob Pickert, Trevor Marsh, Laney and Devin Terrell; great-grandchildren Aaron and Jonathan Pickert-Witt, Annabelle and Elena Marsh.
