Sharon Viola (Leyke) Wentzlaff, passed away on August 28, 2022, in Carson City Nevada. She was born at the St. Cloud Hospital, in St. Cloud, MN, on December 30, 1942, to Leona (Grovender) Leyk and August Leyk.
They were small dairy farmers ten miles from St. Cloud and was where Sharon developed
her love for animals and country living.
After attending a typical one-room country school, where one teacher taught eight grades (one school year there were only 11 students total), she attended public school in Sauk Rapids, MN, and graduated in 1960.
Sharon was immediately hired by Quinlivan, Quinlivan & Quinlivan, attorneys-at-law, in St. Cloud. During her lifetime she held many job positions, including working side-by-side with her husband Henry.
She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Popple Creek, MN. On April 28, 1962, Henry Wentzlaff became her husband and love of her life. They were blessed with three wonderful sons: Todd and his wife Lori of TX, Tim of NY, and Brian of CA. As well as two grandchildren Anna and Kyra of TX.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, but is survived by her brother Russell Leyk of WI, and many cousins.
Inurnment of Henry and Sharon will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids, MN.
Memorial contributions in Sharon’s memory can be directed to the Bethlehem Lutheran School or the Sierra Lutheran High School both in Carson City, NV or to a charity of your choice.
