On Monday, August 7th, 2023, Catherine (Cathy) Jeanette Walsh peacefully passed away in Markleeville, CA at the age of 75. By her side was her daughter, Lisa, son-in-law, Greg, granddaughter, Ashley, and grandson-in-law, Cooper.
Cathy was born on a Friday in Roanoke, Alabama on September 19th, 1947, to Bob and Evelyn Florence.
A long-time resident of Carson City, NV, Cathy was known to make positive, lasting impressions on everyone she encountered. Best described as a “people person” with a lovable personality, she went out of her way to connect and make others feel cared for. Cathy made sure that even acquaintances could call her a friend. A popular 21 and poker dealer for many years provided the perfect outlet for her social nature. Of utmost importance to Cathy was her sobriety, in which she made an impact as a sponsor and earned her 25-year AA chip in April of 2023. She always sought ways to have fun, whether it be sharing a laugh, going for drives, admiring animals, or deeply appreciating music (namely country, blues, and rock).
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She’s survived by a sister and her family, two daughters, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her loyal 14-year-old cat.
She will be interred in Loveless Cemetery in Hohenwald, TN next to her mother and stepfather. Service dates and times are still to be determined. Those who wish can honor Cathy and her legacy by donating to the Humane Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Douglas County Senior Center. We also welcome memories or photos via her online obituary at www.mcfarlanemortuary.com.
A very special thank you to the Douglas County Senior Center in Gardnerville, NV where Cathy actively and enthusiastically participated in her remaining years.
