David Jacob Williams passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2023, with his significant other of seven years, Charlotte (Char) by his side. He left this earth at the age of 94.
The high desert in Southern California’s Lucerne Valley is where Dave had resided for many years but relocated to Carson City in the spring of 2015. Due to health issues at that time, he was medically advised to move closer to family and since he had a son in Carson City, and another residing in Sonora, Ca, he headed north.
Char and David’s meeting in 2016 was the result of Char being involved as an advocate for CASA, and David being the grandfather of his son Mark’s young adopted son, Logan. After a year of getting to know each other, they exchanged vows on April 1, 2017, in Sonora, Ca, and were frequently kidded about tying the knot on April Fool’s Day.
For over seven years they enjoyed many adventures as they travelled extensively to visit family and friends. Airplanes and road trips took them to Oregon, California, Washington, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Of course, when in the Midwest, David had to visit the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame which impressed him to the point of becoming an avid Packer fan. Their motto with their many road trips was “Have Toyota will Travel”.
In between road trips, they found themselves being “Grandma and Grandpa” to Logan. David enjoyed fishing and passed that love onto Logan who enjoyed the sport if Grandpa was there to bait his hook for him. On those fishing occasions, Logan spent time investigating the area, telling us what he saw, and having Grandpa answer his myriad of questions. David relished his time with Logan.
Char and David shared a love for family, friends, music, reading, writing, ice cream, board games, and embracing the miracle of ordinary days with one another.
David enjoyed reading and copying scriptures from the bible and interestingly his last writing was: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
May David rest in peace. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
