Diane was adopted at birth by Stan and Dorothea Springmeyer. The family lived on the corner of Fifth and Mono in Minden and she always had fond memories of small-town life.
Growing up, Diane was very social and active in many groups including cheerleading in high school and joining Tri Delta sorority at UNR.
Diane and Don were high school sweethearts and had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They have two sons and she enjoyed helping them with 4H, Little League, Rodeo Club, and the Saturday Ski Club, among many others. Diane helped support the family with numerous part-time jobs, her last as secretary at DHS for 20+ years.
She was always an active participant in the Trinity Lutheran Church and was at various times a Sunday schoolteacher, usher, Alter Guild member and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was instrumental in starting and organizing the funeral receptions and was recently honored for starting a Christmas toy giveaway. Diane dearly loved her Church family.
Diane was also involved as a docent for the Historical Society and was an honorary member of the Minden Fortnightly Club. Quilting became a hobby later in life and she loved gathering weekly with friends to sew beautiful quilts.
Travel was an important part of her life and over the years she and Don traveled much of the U.S., along with trips to Canada, much of Europe, and China.
When she was in her 50’s Diane reached out to her biological family and eventually met her half-sister plus many aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Preceding Diane in passing are her parents, Stan, and Dorothea Springmeyer.
Surviving are her brother Wayne Springmeyer, husband Don Callahan, sons Scott (Julie), Jeff (Tracy), and two grandsons, Seth and Lewis.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gentiva Hospice and Center Well-Home Health for their hard work and compassion.
Diane’s Memorial Service will be on December 16th, at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, Diane’s Toys or Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women in Mission, will be appreciated.
