Cleo Stewart Ross, Born December 26, 1937, passed away November 30,2023. Born to Clifton Otto Stewart and Martha Ware in Stockton, California. Preceded in death by her parents and her older sisters May Stedman and Dorothy Stewart Garske along with her recently departed younger brother, Gary Stewart. Cleo is survived by her sons Thomas and his partner Alisha, Grahame and his wife Sara and grandchildren Liam and Sawyer. Born and raised in California, after venturing halfway around the world, she found the Comstock in the early 1960’s and stayed for a lifetime. She became lifelong friends to many in the many years in the area, and her legacy has left a lasting impact. She was married at the Union Brewery in Virginia City, owned and ran the Golden Gate Bar and waitressed at the Sharon House for over a decade among many other jobs through the years that allowed her to raise her two sons as a single mother. She retired after 15 years of service in the Carson City School District at Carson Middle School as the Assistant Librarian and a reading tutor at Mark Twain Elementary. Her years at Carson Middle School were among some of her most treasured working experiences, working closely with the staff and students. Cleo also served during several sessions supporting the Nevada State Legislature representatives. She passed away peacefully in her home of over 50 years surrounded by love and family.
