Charlie WIlbur Cross U.S. Veteran

Charles Wilbur Cross, 79, longtime Minden resident, passed away surrounded by his
family in Frisco, TX on June 25, 2023.

Charlie, or “Butch”, was born in Wichita Falls, TX on September 28, 1943, to William Russell Cross and Julia Elizabeth Parsons.

In 1950 his family moved to Burbank, CA. He graduated from John Burroughs High School in 1962 and began working for Pacific Bell in 1964. From 1965-1971 he served in Vietnam with the United States Navy Seabees as a Construction Electrician assigned to NMCB-9. He was proud of his time as a Seabee and lived his life with the “Can-do” attitude of a Seabee.

On July 5th, 1980, he married his loving wife, Maureen Cross (Ingoldsby). He retired from PacBell/ Nevada Bell in 1992. Charlie enjoyed being outdoors which included hunting, fishing, and camping.

Some of his favorite interests included Nevada Wolf Pack football, electronics/cellular phones, building remote control models planes/cars, and trains. He was also an avid Amateur radio operator and member of the SIERA radio association.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and wife Maureen Cross.

He leaves behind his Step-daughters- Sheryl Lefmann of Anderson, SC, Theresa Goldman of Frisco, TX, Son’s-Charlie Cross, and Michael Cross of Minden, NV. 4 Grandchildren- Hunter Cross, Brendan Raine, Kalani Willoughby, and Jessica Campbell. 8 Great grandchildren: Kale, Caleb, Caden, Carter, Keona, Kalea Willoughby, Luca Raine, Aubrey Hunt, and numerous cousins.
