Michael Ayler, 81, a longtime resident of Carson City, passed away on May 27, 2023. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 12, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair “Chuck” Ayler, his mother Pearl Ayler, and ex-wife Kathy Ayler, all of Carson City.
Michael has several cousins of which Janet Slay, of Watsonville, California is managing his affairs. He also leaves behind his closest longtime friend Max Taylor, a close friend of 54 years since 1969.
Michael was a Graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and an accomplished photographer in his own right. He worked as a photographer for the Ormsby House when it first opened in the early 70’s. He had several degrees from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas and also taught classes there after earning his degrees. He was also an avid Ham Radio operator with the call sign of “KC5QPZ” since 2005. He loved the outdoors and rode motorcycles. He also operated drones.
Mike was a veteran, serving in the Air Force. He was stationed in East Anglia, England for some time as a jet engine mechanic.
He also loved animals and had a dog, “River”, who was with him to the end.
