Ruthlee Caloiaro, 63, of Carson City, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 17, 2023, and while she will be missed tremendously, she now is in Heaven for eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ruthlee was born on April 8, 1959 in Concord, CA. She was the fourth of six siblings. After graduation from Summerville High in Sonora, Ca, Ruthlee went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Nevada, Reno. Ruthlee later went on to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
In 1985, after meeting on a blind date she married her husband David seven short months later. They went on to have many life adventures together, but none as significant as having their two children Steven and Laurie. As much as Ruthlee loved being a wife and mother, her ultimate joy came along in the form becoming a Mimi when Steven and his wife Kylee gave birth to a little boy Dominic in 2019 and a little girl Reagan in 2021. Ruthlee’s favorite pastime as Mimi (after spoiling them) was to read to them. She had a stated goal of getting Dominic to read by the end of the summer.
Education was Ruthlee’s true passion and she dedicated over 30 years of her life to serving this purpose. She began her career as a teacher serving in both Washoe County and later Carson City School districts. In an effort to make a greater impact, Ruthlee decided to get into administration and served as a Dean of Carson Middle School, Vice-principle of Mark Twain elementary. Finally, in 2013 Ruthlee achieved her pinnacle professional goal of running her own school, becoming the Principal at Mark Twain Elementary School. Ruthlee relished sitting out front greeting the children and their parents each morning with her trademark Starbucks Chia Tea Latte in hand.
In August of 2022, Ruthlee decided to close a storied career as a professional and choose to retire hoping to spend more time with her family and move into the full time role as Mimi.
To celebrate Ruthlee, a public memorial service will be held at Carson Middle School on April 7, 2023 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has created an educational memorial fund where all proceeds will be donated to Mark Twain Elementary School in her honor. https:://gofundme/214f16e2
