Peter John Kendler, a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps (USMC), passed away in his home on March 18, 2023.
The son of Robert and Delores Kendler; he grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before joining the USMC on September 23, 1975, at the age of 18. He valued this service highly. A few of his duty stations included, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, El Toro, Ca., Kaneohe Bay Marine base Hawaii and two tours to Okinawa (Camp Kinser and Futenma Air Station).

Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation 2nd Award,
Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award,
Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Japan, National Defense Service Medal,
Sea Service Deployment Ribbon 8th Award, Secretary of the Navy Letter of
Commendation, Certificate of Commendation 2nd Award,
Letter of Appreciation 4th Award. He attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant
before retiring September 23, 1995.
He moved his family to Gardnerville, NV where he started his own electrical contracting business and where for the next 20 years, he enjoyed camping and fishing and the outdoor recreations Nevada had to offer. He made several trips back to Wisconsin, Illinois, Hawaii, South Carolina and Texas before finally retiring in 2022.
Pete is survived by his sons Johnathan, Steven (Annie) and Matthew (Brandee) and former wife Dahleen. He was known as “Pappy Pete” to his three grandchildren: Elizabeth, Asher and Arkham. His brother Robin (Dorothy) and his niece and family in Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his infant son Daniel Robert, His nephew Richie and his parents.
Viewing for Peter Kendler will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Walton’s at 1521 Church St, Gardnerville, NV. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Fairfield, Ca next to his son Daniel on Thursday April 6, 2023, at Noon. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
