Marian Ruth Fitz Pintar began her heavenly journey on May 15, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born in Fallon, Nevada September 8, 1932, to parents Harold and Catherine Lerch Fitz. She grew up on the family ranch in Stillwater, Nevada and attended the Stillwater School from grade one to eight where she was the only female in her class.
Ruth graduated from Churchill County High School in 1952 And went on to attend the University of Nevada, Reno where after two years of study she was granted an elementary school teaching certificate and began her 35-year elementary teaching career in McGill, Nevada.
While teaching in McGill she met another native Nevadan, Mike Pintar and they were married June 28, 1953. She and Mike lived in Reno and Fallon before settling in Carson City for the last 62 years.
Ruth’s entire career revolved around education. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and was named Teacher of the Year for the Carson City School District. She was still in contact with former students and had a hand in educating many Carson City residents.
Ruth Pintar served as a 4-H leader, camp counselor, taught summer school and made sure that her children were kept busy and out of trouble. The Pintar house was the neighborhood hang out and Ruth loved every minute that their house was full of kids.
Ruth was a proud 65-year member of the P.E.O Sisterhood where she served on the local and state level, she was named Auxilian of the Year for the Carson Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary and was a member and past president of the Desert Gardeners.
Throughout her life Ruth enjoyed gardening, reading and traveled many times to Europe and around the United States and Canada. One of Ruth's favorite trips was to Croatia with her 5 adult children to spread Mike's ashes. She called it the trip of a lifetime, and her kids would all agree. She enjoyed travels to watch her grandchildren participate in their various sporting events. She was an avid SF Giants and 49'er fan.
Ruth is predeceased by her husband of 57 years Mike Pintar, her parents, her brother Robert Fitz, and infant daughter Catherine Ann.
She is survived by her children Susan Pintar (Sheldon Kop), Nancy Yamamoto (Richard), Ann Erwin (Jeff), Michael Pintar (Karen Ayarbe), and Mary Mills (Chris).
