Dick Glover, a longtime resident of Gardnerville passed away peacefully in his home on June 14 at the age of 88. He was a loving husband, father and mentor and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dick was born in Bozeman, Montana and raised in Thermopolis, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1956 with a business degree as well as completing ROTC and being recognized as a Distinguished Military Student. Upon graduation, he was selected for an appointment as First Lieutenant in the regular army which started his military career. Dick served as an Intelligence Officer and ended his military service as Captain in 1964. He was so proud to have served his country and spoke about his time in the Army often.
After leaving the Army, he and his dad co-owned a Western Auto Store in Fresno, California before he was hired by Allstate Insurance Company in 1966. Dick had a wonderful and successful 26-year career as a Territorial Sales Manager for Allstate and retired in 1992.
In 1993, Dick moved his family to Gardnerville, built a home and decided it was time to go back to work. He was hired by Bently Agrodynamics in 1994 and retired as the Operations Manager in 2004. He enjoyed his friendships with the many people he worked with and
some of his happiest memories are from his time working on the ranch.
Dick had many hobbies which included woodworking, restoring antique tractors, antique engines and tractor pulling. You could always find him working in his shop and visiting with friends that would stop by to see his projects.
Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanie and his three children, Terri (Brian), Staci and Dave. He is blessed with five grandchildren, Lauren (Matt), Brooke (Jesse), Carter, Braden, and Katti as well as five great grandchildren, Micah, Grace, Lane, Natalie, and London.
