Ronald Wade Mahoney Sr., 75, of Gardnerville, Nevada passed away at Carson Valley Hospital on September 19, 2023.
Ron was born on January 2, 1948, in Oakland, California. He graduated from Bell High School in 1966. He served in the US Air Force from 1966 -1970 during the Vietnam War and worked as military police in Okinawa.
He married Anita Gail (Denny) Johnson on May 28,1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had a son, Ronald Jr. in July 1972. Ron worked in the X-Ray department at Kaiser Permanente in Bellflower, California for over 25 years. He was involved in Boy Scouts with his sons Mike and Ron Jr. and went on many camping trips. He enjoyed bowling, loved deep sea fishing, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and square-dancing friends and went on many cruises around the world together.
He and his wife moved to Gardnerville, Nevada in 1998 and Ron worked in security for the Carson Valley Inn until his retirement in 2013. He enjoyed spending time in the casinos and visits from his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Adella (Buyse) McQuade, stepfather Harold McQuade, father Manford Mahoney, brothers Kent Mahoney and Marvin Mahoney, twin sisters Janice Klinger and Jeanette Shaneyfelt, and grandson Kyle McNeley.
He is survived by his son: Ronald W. Mahoney Jr., three step children: Kimberly (Bob Dearwester) Barrie, Michael (Sabina) Johnson, Michelle (Kevin) McNeley, eight grandchildren: Parker Barrie, Donald (Maili) Palmer, Tiffany (Billy) Callahan, Mikey Johnson, Karie McNeley, Kelsie McNeley, Kalaya (Jordan) Simon, and Shoshana Mahoney, six great grandchildren: Yvelisse Mahoney, Raynor Simon, Ava Simon, Delila Meraz, James Higashiyama, and Eliana Callahan, brothers: Wayne Mahoney of Norwalk, California and Stanley (Pat) Mahoney of Bonaire, Georgia,
as well as many nieces and nephews.
His family will honor his wishes and scatter his ashes over the Kingsbury Grade in Lake Tahoe so he can fly high with the eagles.
