It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father, Wilbur (Bill) C. Stodieck, he was 86 years old. He earned his wings at home in Carson City after a battle with Alzheimer’s with his family by his side. Bill was born in Carson City, NV at a midwife’s house on Telegraph St. on July 2, 1937, to Wilbur and Velma (Meneley) Stodieck.
After serving in the US Navy, Seabee’s division, he worked as an electrician for the remainder of his career. He married Shirley (Morris) Stodieck in 1961, and they adopted their daughter, Heather Stodieck Reid, in 1973. They were married for 25 years but remained friends. Bill loved his family and spending time together. Bill loved the outdoors. He loved hiking, skiing, and walking his dog. He was very proud of the Stodieck Family heritage here in Carson City and Carson Valley.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur H. Stodieck, mother, Velma (Meneley) Stodieck, older sister, Marge Churn and great granddaughter Angel May Collins. He is survived by his first wife and friend Shirley Stodieck, daughter, Heather Stodieck Reid (Chris), granddaughters Lexi Collins (Justin) and Krystal Reid (Adam) and great grandchildren Justin and Katie, younger brother, Robert Stodieck and younger sister, Sally Shaw and many other family members.
