Life resident of Fallon, Nevada, Bill B. Beeghly passed away on July 26, 2024, while a resident of Park Place Assisted Living in Reno. Due to declining health, Bill moved to Reno last summer to be closer to and cared for by his family. Today, many hearts of loved ones and friends mourn the passing of this special man.
Bill was a true Fallon native through and through. Born November 4, 1932, he was the first child of Wendell and Genevieve Beeghly. His sister, Janice, followed several years later. Growing up in a small farming community was ideal for this rambunctious kid and his friends. It was a memorable time for a boy to be raised and learn valuable lessons along the way.
Bill graduated from Churchill County High School in 1951. He always cherished the friends he made during his youth. These loyal friendships continued for many, many years, to the very end. As a young man, Bill developed a strong work ethic. He was mentored well by his dad, Wen. Anyone from Fallon in those days will remember Wen and Bill as owners of Beeghly’s Union 76 Service Station on the corner of Williams Ave. and Maine St. Bill continued for nearly five decades operating his Texaco and Shell Service stations as well. He was always receiving accolades from his many loyal customers for his devoted and tireless service. For sure, he was a man of integrity!
Bill married Janet Huntsman in 1955. They were blessed with two children. Their son, Philip arrived in September 1955, and their daughter, Marla, was born in October 1960.
Bill’s death was preceded by his parents, his son, Philip and his former wife, Janet. Bill is survived by his sister, Janice Howard of Sparks, NV.; daughter, Marla Smith (Bob) of Reno, NV.; and his four loving granddaughters; Kacy Backlund; Ashley Kuhn; Courtney Angus; and Brittany Munk; of course, he treasured his great-grandchildren, Talan; Brody; Gabriel; Simon; Nora and Dane.
Bill was a faithful member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in the church for many years. For over 15 years, bill served as an ordinance worked in the Reno Nevada Temple. During this time, every Wednesday morning, Bill would travel to Reno to serve in the Temple. This opportunity to serve in the Lord’s house brought him immeasurable joy during that season of his life.
As a family, we express our sincere gratitude to Bill’s extended family and friends who selflessly nursed and cared for him during these past few years. Bill never ceased to express his heartfelt gratitude for everyone’s love and support. He will always be remembered as an honest, loving, and decent man.
Per Bill’s wishes, in lieu of funeral services there will be a graveside service for family and close friends at a later date.
