Susie was beautiful in every way. She fought cancer courageously for fourteen months. As a young child, she learned from her mother and father the core values of God, Country, and Family. Susie followed those values her entire life. She truly loved her family, friends, community, career, her chocolate Labrador Retrievers, and of course her Miami Dolphins! She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A native Nevadan, Susie grew up in Minden and graduated from Douglas High School in 1977. After graduation, through a Rotary Exchange Program, Susie studied abroad for eighteen months in Minden, Germany.
Upon her return to Nevada, Susie enrolled at UNLV and completed her bachelor’s degree in German Language. In 1985, Susie began an exemplary 39-year career with the State of Nevada. She began her career as an investigator with the Gaming Control Board, and then moved on to the Attorney General’s Office. Susie went on to share her expertise as an investigator to the Major Crimes Division of the Nevada Division of Investigation. Wanting to share her experience and knowledge, she proceeded to instruct the Peace Officer’s Standards and Training, (POST) and later accepted a Gubernatorial Appointment as a Commissioner to the Nevada Parole Board. In addition to raising two wonderful young men during her tenure with the State, Susie also attended the F.B.I. National Academy, served on the Minden Town Board, faithfully served Trinity Lutheran Church on several committees, and many years ago, was active in the Republican Women of Douglas County.
Susie is preceded in death by her father, Senator Lawrence E. Jacobsen, infant brother Gary, and sister-in-law, Debbie Jacobsen, stepson, Luke Jackson, and uncle, Gary Lundergreen, Also, her beloved chocolate labs, Gretel, Brooklyn, and Louis.
