Bill Richard Stalhut, 79, passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 20, 2023.
He was a devoted husband, a proud Vietnam Veteran, and a beloved member of his family.
Born in Flagstaff, Arizona, Bill was one of six children born to Marjorie and Louis Stalhut. Bill loved growing up in Arizona and had many adventures to share. As a young man, he bravely served his country in the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and honor throughout his service. His patriotism and commitment to his fellow soldiers were deeply admired by all who knew him.
A hardworking and determined individual, Bill was a talented jeweler and goldsmith working at Harrah's and Caesar's in Lake Tahoe where he met and married his wife of 47 years, Sara. Bill was a loving stepfather to Sara's daughters and a "fun grandfather" to seven grandchildren and great-grandfather to 15.
Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, and telling (frequently inappropriate) jokes. He had a love for restoring classic cars from the 50's and an impressive collection of model cars which he displayed and enjoyed talking and reminiscing about.
His other passions included cheering for the Phoenix Suns and watching westerns and classic movies on television.
Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill's integrity and larger-than-life presence will forever resonate in the hearts and minds of those he left behind.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sara, stepdaughters Cindy (Joe), Cathi (Lee), sister Sally (Leo), brother Charles (Andrea), and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held in the Spring of 2024.
