Born September 18, 1959, in Norwalk, California, passed away on January 2, 2024, in Vacaville, California, following a 4 ½ year battle with cancer. She faced each challenge with a positive attitude and a brave smile.
Cindy spent most of her life in the Walker, California and Gardnerville, Nevada, area. She attended Antelope Elementary School and Coleville High School, creating lifelong bonds with many of her classmates. She was raised riding horses and caring for the numerous “critters” her family acquired over the years. She had the pleasure of traveling to Japan in 1977, as a Lion’s Club exchange student. Mostly, Cindy enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and beauty of the Sierra’s.
Cindy was a “creative crafter”, often repurposing items into unique gifts for those around her. She showcased her creative talents while she owned Garden Gate Flowers and Gifts. She loved working in her yard, creating a fairyland feel, to the enjoyment of herself and anyone who visited. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and witty comebacks. On Sunday afternoons she could be found in her favorite chair, watching drag racing on TV.
A special thank you goes out to friends and neighbors who offered their support and assistance during her journey. You helped to brighten her days with your acts of kindness.
She is survived by her parents, Kathy and Mike Mandichak, brothers Jim Thompson (Layne) and Joe Mandichak, sisters Carol Mandichak and Connie (Thompson) Wenner, and “adopted” sister Mimi who resides in Greece, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
