Coach Carpenter has passed on to his field of dreams. His life lives on in many memories.
Myron Everett Carpenter, known to many as Coach, passed on June 3, 2024, at home. Born on the 3rd of September in 1935 to Leetta and Myron W. Carpenter, who started their family in Canoga Park, California after moving from Kansas.
After serving with the National Guard, Myron played football for UNR and was a devoted Wolf Pack supporter throughout his life.
As a lifelong educator, Myron and his wife Tish spent many a summer taking high school students to Western Europe, Egypt, and China, expanding their horizons and helping them put the World History and Government lessons he taught into context. Coaching was a passion, and he was blessed to coach with Leuzinger, Hawthorne, Douglas, and Carson High Schools.
After retiring, he turned his attention to renovating the historic Carson City Prison to encourage more tourism and knowledge of the history of this region. His contributions to the communities he lived in survive him and will be a legacy he is proud of.
Love you more... was often Myron’s sign-off to calls with family and friends. Beverly, Myron’s younger sister, and her children, Christine, Stephanie (1966-2018), and Brian, were always a source of joy and brought a smile to his face. Tish, his wife of 43 years, and her children Heidi and Christy, as well as Heidi’s children Emma and Liam, find peace in knowing that Myron is free of suffering, will be coaching in the big sky leagues now, and rooting for us all enthusiastically from the dugout.
In keeping with family tradition, a grave side family service will be held in the coming weeks at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, California. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm Friday July 12th at Walton’s Funeral Home, 1281 N Roop Street, Carson City, Nevada. All are welcome.
