Frederic Joseph Nimis, Jr. died peacefully on 7/7/2024, after a brief time in hospice. At his side was his devoted wife of almost 56 years, Concha (Connie) Nimis (nee Perea). Fred was born in 1942, the first child of Fred Sr. and Naomi Nimis, who raised their family in St. Paul, MN.
Fred graduated from St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN with a BA in History. He became a teacher and later met his future wife in Japan where both were educators in the DODDS organization, teaching students of US service members based overseas. During his teaching career, he taught in other countries including West Germany and England. He and his wife were world travelers, having the opportunity during summer breaks to explore the world. Later in life, Fred changed careers and became an Enrolled Agent and ran a small business preparing taxes and giving financial advice. After retirement, he and Connie generously hosted many events at their home and created lasting memories amongst his siblings, in-laws and his nephews and nieces (which he referred to as the “nefs.”)
Fred Jr. was preceded in death by his parents Fred Nimis Sr. and Naomi Nimis (nee Hubbard) and nephew Christian Nimis. Fred is survived by his wife Concha and siblings: Janet (Tom) Kloster, Howard (Joyce), Mary Nimis-Tysk, Stephen (Maureen), Susan (Jay) Tracy, Donald (Connie), Gerard (Marion), David (Jackie), Jeffrey (Debbie), Gregory and Sheila. Fred was also loved by his in-laws and 26 nephews and nieces and 43 grand nephews and nieces.
