Clint Harris

June 30, 1946 - June 5,2024

Clint Harris, born June 30, 1946, in Detroit to Francis Alma Lee and Edgar Clintwood Harris, passed away on June 5th, 2024, at home in Genoa, Nevada, with his wife, Carol by his side, after a valiant fight against cancer and a failing heart.

Clint grew up in Detroit alongside his brother Sherwood, forming a lifelong bond after the loss of their mother at a young age. They were later joined by half-brothers Ron and Richard.

Clint graduated from Redford High School in 1964 and went on to attend Lynchburg College before returning to Michigan to study at Wayne State University. It was there that he met Carol Voss, his future wife. Their courtship was briefly interrupted when Clint served in Vietnam during his Army enlistment. Upon his return, Clint and Carol married on August 31, 1969, and eventually settled in Nevada in 1972.

In Nevada, Clint embarked on a career of collecting careers that included roles as a land surveyor, newspaper editor, marketing/sales manager, and paralegal. He was a devoted family man, sharing a loving home in Genoa with Carol and their three children: Misha (born 1978), Katelyn (born 1982), and Kirkwood (born 1984). Clint's dedication to his family was evident in his active involvement in their lives, from coaching soccer teams to supporting their endeavors and nurturing their interests.

As time passed, Clint and Carol’s extended family grew. Misha married Clint Ayler in 2001, Katelyn married Mike Gurnari in 2009, and Kirkwood married Stephanie Yee in 2018. They welcomed three grandsons, Anthony Gurnari in 2014, Grantwood Ayler in 2016, and Yuli Harris in 2021. Clint loved spending time with his grandsons, whether it was playing baseball with Anthony, sharing his love of tractors with Grantwood, or playing toddler games with Yuli.

Known for his gentle demeanor and passion for reading, Clint enjoyed hiking the trails near his Genoa home and delighted friends and family with his humorous writing, especially in the annual Christmas letter.

Clint and Carol celebrated over 56 years of marriage with travels across Europe and Australasia during retirement, cherishing their time together and the family they had built. Clint is survived by his beloved wife Carol; daughters Misha Ayler (Clint), Katelyn Gurnari (Mike), and son Kirkwood Harris (Stephanie); grandchildren Anthony Gurnari, Grantwood Ayler, and Yuli Harris; brother Sherwood "Woody" Harris (Connie); and half-brothers Ron and Richard Harris.

A Celebration of Life honoring Clint will be held on September 21, 2024, in Genoa, NV. For details, please contact Katelyn at kateharrisgurnari@gmail.com or 775-720-10.52608.
