Don was born in Oakland, CA. on June 6, 1948, and died in Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on July 9, 2024. He was 76 years old.
He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He grew up in San Leandro, Ca attended Pacific High School, graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Photojournalism, and entered a fulfilling and heroic 32-year career in Firefighting, ascending to the rank of Battalion Chief with Newark Fire Department (now consolidated with Alameda
County Fire).
He retired in December 2004 to his forever home in Carson City, NV. with his wife Peggy, enjoying many wonderful Harley rides, RV trips, glorious vacations in Mexico, Hawaii, N. Carolina, Alaska and a truly memorable trip to Ireland with family. He was active for
many years in Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, was on the Board of Directors and loved shooting skeet and trap at Capital City Gun Club. He was a longtime Raiders and SF Giants fan. He had so many wonderful friends that he kept in touch with-firefighters, gun club members, hunting and fishing buddies, school friends and neighbors.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years Peggy Green-Wilson, his sons Brian Wilson (David) and Dave Wilson (Meghan) grandchildren Hannah and Henry, brother Doug Wilson (Terri) dear cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was predeceased by father Alan Wilson, mother Helen DaMant Wilson, and brother Ron Wilson.
There will be a Celebration of Life August 10,2024 at 5 p.m. Plaza Event Center 211 E. 9th St., Carson City.
