Eugene Floyd “Breck” Walkama passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2024,
in Carson City, NV. He was 90 years old.
Gene was born in Lovelock, NV on January 12, 1934, to William August and Flora Belle Hanson
Walkama. He was raised in Lovelock and graduated from Pershing County High School in 1952.
After high school he served during the Korean War in the army stationed in Germany.
Upon returning he married Virginia Lee Stephens in Lovelock in 1957. They lived in San Jose,
CA where they had 4 children together. In 1968 they moved to Carson City, Nevada where he
worked for the State of Nevada, Legislative Council Bureau as a Deputy Legislative Auditor
until his retirement January 4, 1997.
He enjoyed family functions and loved to garage sale. He never passed up a piece of red glass to add to his collection. He loved trains and was a member of the Nevada State Railroad
Museum. Up until his death Gene stayed close with his Pershing County High School alumni.
He is survived by daughters Lee Ann (Scott), and Dana (Sjon), son Brian, grandchildren Nate,
Jesse, Jake, Erin, Logan, Amy, Alex, Jeremy and Kori; and great grandchildren Bailey, Alison,
Marek, Nolan, Charlotte, Luke, Savannah, Vale, Trent, David, Lily, Landon, and Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Bobby, brother William, and daughter
Lyn Jeanice.
