It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gentty Pete Etcheverry on June 22nd, 2024, in Carson City, Nevada. Gentty was born on December 17th, 1929, in Ely, Nevada to two Basque immigrants, Peter Paul Etcheverry and Pauline Bernardine (Goyhenetche) Etcheverry. He was the eldest of six children. Gentty worked as an Assay Chemist at Kennecott Copper Corporation. He also served as Mayor for 14 years in Ely, Nevada. Gentty and his wife, Patsy Joan (Frampton) Etcheverry, moved to Carson City in 1977 where he was the Executive Director of the Nevada League of Cities up until retirement.
Gentty enjoyed spending time with family and loved visiting Ely often. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and attending Old Farts Club in his latter years.
Gentty was survived by daughter, Patricia Ann Ellifritz, and son, Gene Paul Etcheverry. He was also survived by siblings, Lois Ann Cox and Frances Mae Rose. Surviving grandchildren include, Sean Joseph Gallian, Sarah Jean (Gallian) Pardovich and Natalie Maxanne (Ellifritz) Betschart; and great grandchildren Isiah Anthony Robinson, Lazarus Ezekiel Gallian and Hudson Lee Betschart.
Gentty was preceded in death by his parents Peter Paul Etcheverry and Pauline Bernardine (Goyhenetche) Etcheverry; his loving wife Patsy Joan (Frampton) Etcheverry; and his siblings Alice Milobar, Albert Etcheverry and Elizabeth Bullock.
Graveside burial service will be held on July 9th, 2024 at Ely City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ely, Nevada.
