Jacquelynn Geiffert Maye (Jackie), 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 29, 2024. She was born in February of 1947 in White Plains, New York, to Priscilla and Alfred Geiffert. She is survived by her son Jason, daughter in law Karen, sister Marilynn, former husband Jacques, and granddogs Jojo and Max.
Jackie received her Masters degree in Music Education SUNY Fredonia in = 1970. She spent her entire life teaching and sharing music. She started her teaching career by teaching music at Stewart Indian School in Carson City Nevada and later teaching music at just about every school in Douglas County, Nevada. She went on to direct the music for Fiddler On The Roof and South Pacific at the Sparks Nugget showroom.
Jackie performed on stage and provided musical direction for much community theater. She composed, directed, and played the music for dozens of her original works. She also performed countless “Mozart and Me” events, dressing up and performing as Mozart, entertaining people while educating them about his work. Jackie remained active in the arts up to the very end, writing a song for “Think First”, and assembling an ensemble of seniors to perform and video record it just a few months ago.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 15 at 12:00-2:00 at the Clubhouse of Colonial Club on Federal Highway, Boynton Beach Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society or Planned Parenthood.
