John Carricaburu born February 29, 1948, passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 75, peacefully and surrounded by his family at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada. John fought a courageous battle with cancer over the last 2 years with the love and caring help of his wife, daughters, and family. Despite the pain, he stayed strong…
John graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1967 and immediately enlisted in the US Navy. He was a proud veteran having served on the USS Galveston in Vietnam during his tour of duty from 1968-1972.
John married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Bullock in 1967 and soon after leaving the service, they settled down in Santa Paula, CA. He became a carpenter and eventually a General Contractor primarily building custom homes in Southern California. During that time, he moved his family to Ojai, California where they raised their 3 daughters. In 1997 they moved to Northern Nevada where he continued his craft.
One of his pride and joys was building and restoring cars but more so was his family. His beloved wife of 55 years, Kathy, daughter’s Jonette Anthony (Jeremy), Kelli Kolenut (Jason), and Julie Maseda (Kenny). John was a proud Papa to six grandchildren; Brandi, Courtney, Nikolas, Johnny, Kassie and Mason…all of whom he immensely loved as well as 6 great grandchildren; Aubrielle, Emberlynn, Ophelia, Kennedy, Fiadh, and Emmy.
John was an amazing man, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and dear friend to many people. He never met a stranger that he didn’t befriend by the end of one conversation. He is and will always be loved and missed by all. A celebration of life will be held June 22,2024 at 1 PM at their home in Gardnerville.
