Richard Allen Mattinson

March 7, 1933 - November 1,2024

Richard Allen Mattinson aged 91, of Genoa, NV, passed away peacefully on November 1st. He was born on March 7, 1933, to Edwin and Byrd Mattinson and raised in South Charleston, OH.

Richard (“Dick”) was always the gentlemen and known for his easy going and friendly personality. He graduated from Ohio State University and was an avid OSU fan until his passing. He went on to serve in the Army in El Paso, TX where he met the love of his life, Nancy, and subsequently moved to El Paso. Dick began his career in the insurance industry where he was highly respected for his knowledge, honesty, ethics, and integrity. He spent most of his career in El Paso as a partner in a local insurance agency. He was passionate about the insurance business, and enjoyed golf, skiing, and camping.

Dick and Nancy retired to Genoa, Nevada in 2001 and immediately felt at home amongst the beautiful mountains and warm, genuine community. Dick was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley and enjoyed contributing to the annual Genoa Candy Dance, the Centennial Committee and volunteering at the railroad museum in Carson City.

Dick was a beloved husband to Nancy, parent, grandparent, great grandparent, and cherished friend to many. He is survived by his daughter Leigh (Doug) Nauman, son Tom (Kelley) Mattinson, grandchildren Kathryn, Laura, Courtney, Hayden, Cooper, 5 great grandchildren and his brother Bill.

A service to celebrate Dick’s life will be held in South Charleston, OH on November 24th, and a celebration of life for his friends in Genoa will be scheduled at a later date.
