Charles W. Poe

March 7, 1948 - November 6,2024

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Charlie Poe, a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend, who passed away on November 6th at the age of 76. Charlie’s life was one of unwavering service, dedication, and love, and he leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Charlie proudly served in law enforcement for over 45 years, a career built on integrity, commitment and a deep sense of duty. During his time in service, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and the community, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went. His work was more than just a job; it was a calling, and he gave his all to it, always with a steady hand and a compassionate heart.

After retiring, Charlie spent his days doing what he loved most - playing golf. Whether on the course with friends or enjoying quiet moments with his family, golf became not just a passion, but a reflection of the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His infectious smile, positive spirit, and love for the game brought happiness to everyone around him. He never missed an opportunity to share his joy with others. He accomplished the last thing on his bucket list by getting a Hole in One on April 17, 2023.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Michelle, his daughter Crystal, nephews Billy and Tim Jr., niece Jessica and an ever-growing number of grandchildren. He was a proud family man whose love for his wife, daughter and grandchildren knew no bounds. Charlie’s family was his greatest treasure, and his presence will be sorely missed by them and by countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.

Charlie’s kindness, sense of humor and deep sense of loyalty made him a cherished part of every life he entered. He was a man who loved fiercely, lived fully and gave generously. Though he has passed, the love and warmth he brought into the world will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held in the Spring at his ‘happy place’, the Carson Valley Golf Course, where family, friends and loved ones will come together to honor a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of their choice.

Charlie Poe’s legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be missed terribly but his memory will forever remain a source of strength and inspiration. Rest in peace Charlie - you will never be forgotten.
