Mary Ellen Radtke, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 surrounded by family on August 29, 2024.
Born Mary Ellen De Mel on August 11, 1940, in Bakersfield, CA, she was married to Leslie Lee Radtke on July 6, 1963, in North Hollywood.
Throughout their lives, Mary Ellen and Lee traveled extensively, exploring the world and the nation, including living in Virginia and Kansas City before settling in to their forever home of Carson City, NV. Lee predeceased Mary Ellen on June 3, 2013.
Mary Ellen was deeply committed to her community, actively participating in numerous civic organizations, including the AT&T (Nevada Bell) Pioneers and the Carson City Community Emergency Response Team. She served on the board of Carson Montessori Charter School and was a lifetime member of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society.
Mary Ellen had a passion for teaching, sharing her love of toll painting and quilting with friends and family. Her warmth, creativity, and dedication to service will be remembered by all who knew her.
Mary Ellen is survived by her two devoted sons, Todd (Gail) Radtke and Don (Monica) Radtke, along with six cherished grandchildren Taylor (Cory), Nick (Kelly), Ashley, Danielle, Marlee, Steven and one great-granddaughter Ava.
Private services were held to honor the lives of Lee and Mary Ellen, celebrating their spiritual reunion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity of your choice in her memory.
