Linda Rose Birdwell passed away, after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer, on September 6, 2024, at home in her beloved Genoa, NV, surrounded by family.
Linda was born March 15, 1952, in Gary, IN, where she graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1970. She went on to pursue her education at Purdue University, earning two undergraduate degrees (math and computer science) in just three years, before becoming a CPA. Linda also received her MBA from St.
Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, as well as ac certificate in Program Management from Stanford University.
For over thirty years Linda held leadership positions for various companies and specialized in financial management and strategic planning. She worked for Farm Credit Center, US Bank, Wells Fargo, and Swift Communications.
Even with her busy career, Linda always found time to volunteer and contribute to the communities she called home. In St. Paul, MN, she served with St. Paul Children Hospital Board of Directors as treasurer and president of the local guild. In Genoa, Linda volunteered for the Carson Valley Medical Center Foundation serving various roles on the board of
directors. She also served as finance chair for Candy Dance, vice chair on the Genoa Town Advisory Board, treasurer of the Greater Genoa Board Business Association, and treasurer of the Carson Valley Trails Association.
Linda loved traveling the world. Among her many adventures, she visited Europe, China, New Zealand, Africa, Alaska, and Hawaii. Her most loved spot was the beach house in Carpinteria, CA. She visited Carp many, many times over 40 years and celebrated her honeymoon, her daughter’s birthday, her brother’s birthday and her grandsons’ birthdays there. Many family memories were made at The Beach House.
Linda and Brian lived in Minneapolis/St. Paul for many years. Linda loved big city life and travel. She was a confirmed big city girl, until . . . Genoa! Who knew that she would find such a happy home in a small town, where she flourished and was embraced by the community.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Brian MacNeill; her amazing daughter, Libby Moulton and son-in-law Chris Moulton; grandsons, James and William Moulton; devoted sister Linda Jean Troxel; brother and champion, Charlie Birdwell and wife Glynn; nephews, Scott Birdwell and wife Meredith, Adam Birdwell and wife Kara; great niece,
Cora Birdwell; great nephew, Bridger Birdwell; cousin, George Ann Luce and husband Buddy; close friends, Karen and Dick Braun, Paula Lorenz, Melanie and Dale Miller, The Bable Book Club, and too many more friends to list.
A remembrance celebration will take place at a later date. Memorial preferred to the Carson Valley Health Foundation.
