Douglas County commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. today to certify the results of the Aug. 15 election at the historic Minden courthouse.

Counties must have certified all elections by Tuesday, when the clock begins ticking for the Sharron Angle campaign to decide whether they want a recount.

Angle defeated Heller by just seven votes in Douglas County, but is hoping polling problems in Washoe County led to uncounted votes. She only needs 400 to alter the results of the election.

The deadline to decide is 5 p.m. Friday.

A Glendora man who worked as a part-time volunteer ski patroller at Diamond Peak Resort was identified Sunday as the motorcycle rider killed 4:25 p.m. Friday in a crash west of Spooner Summit, the Washoe County Coroner's office reported.

Douglas Lloyd Gardner, 45, lost control of his blue Harley Davidson motorcycle when he swerved to avoid some wood in the road while eastbound on Highway 50, said Kristina Citro, his passenger.

The Idaho woman is recovering at Washoe Medical Center with a dislocated knee and elbow injury. She had surgery on her elbow Sunday morning.

It will be sunny and warm with the high temperature predicted to hit 92 today and level off in the low 90s this week. Lows will remain in the mid-40s and the Washoe Zephyr will pick up around sunset, gusting to 26 mph.
