Recipients return to support food drive

Some of the folks donating to the Share Your Holidays Food Drive in Minden on Friday had benefited from the drive in the past.

"Many of them are past recipients who've been there and want to give something back," said organizer Len Frueh on Friday morning. "We've had several $500 donations and one $800 donation. We're off to a fantastic start."

The food drive is sponsored by KTVN Channel 2 and the Carson Valley Inn. Drive-through donations were accepted through 6 p.m., though organizer and KTVN Chief Photographer Sherrie Cerutti said the television crew stays until 7 p.m. to do their report and perhaps collect some donations from stragglers.

Harold Willard said he had put 60 bumper stickers on cars in the morning.

Donations were weighed as they came in and then packed into boxes.
