Joyce's celebrates 30 years with open house

Joyce's Jewelry and Gifts celebrates 30 years in business and 30 years of Mimi Jobe Christmas cards at their annual open house event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Jobe will be on hand to personalize her 2006 edition Christmas card titled "Let's Pretend."

"This is a big event and we celebrate Mimi every year," said Joyce's owner Norie Jenkins. "We'll sell her cards and have her original oil paintings here through the season."

For collectors, Joyce's Gifts will have Jobe's signed Christmas cards available in bulk, as well as cards from past years that may be out of print.

"A lot of people collect the cards every year and have them framed to keep around the home," said Jenkins.

Three generations in the gift store's history will be at the open house: namesake Joyce Neddenriep, her daughter and present owner Jenkins and granddaughter Krissie Thornhill.

The store has been revamped, redesigned and redecorated for the holidays with Christmas merchandise arriving every day.

Joyce's carries Snow Babies collectibles, Christopher Rathko ornaments and features an extensive nativity section. A Christmas ornament display will adorn Joyce's windows as it has for 25 years.

Along with Spode dinnerware and collectibles by Department 56, the store's fare includes glassware and art glass, gifts, jewelry and interior design by Designing Images.

The open house is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Refreshments will be served.
