Minden restaurant hosting fundraiser for child of slain military couple

The Backroads Bar & Grill is hosting a fundraiser for 7-month-old Kassidy Miller at at noon on May 3.

Miller's parents, U.S. Army Sgts. Timothy and Randi Miller, were murdered March 1 outside Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash. Timothy Miller was a 1998 graduate of Douglas High School. Both he and his wife had served in Iraq. Following the murders, Kassidy was brought back to Carson Valley to be raised by her grandparents, Tami and Randy Gray of the Gardnerville Ranchos.

The event will feature a taco bar, raffle, live music, fun and games. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids 5 to 12. Proceeds will fund a college trust account for Kassidy.
