Silver Spirit Cheer Club starts off competitive season on top

The 53 members of the Silver Spirit All-Star Cheer Club of Minden started their competition season with three first-place awards at the America's Best Championship competition in Sacramento on Nov. 15.

"We swept the board. All three teams got first place in their divisions," said Paige Young, co-owner of the club. "It was a good way to start the season."

Additionally, the Silver Spirit youth squad won the event's grand prize of a paid trip to the Las Vegas Supernationals in April.

"The youth squad had the highest score of the day in Sacramento so their trip to the Supernationals is paid for," said Young. "That's the same squad that brought home the national championship title from Las Vegas in March."

Silver Spirit All-Star Cheer holds year-round classes in the competitive team sports of cheer, dance and tumbling. The club has been preparing for their competition season since June. All three squads will attend a national competition in Las Vegas in February and the youth
