Airport important

EDITOR:

Thank you to our fabulous Minden-Tahoe Airport. Our airport is a busy and vital part of our county. Most people don't even realize what a precious gem the airport is to our Valley. Did you know that the airport brings millions of dollars of revenue to our Valley every year? People from around the world come here to soar. The Carson Valley is one of three places in the world to have a particular kind of wind pattern that is perfect for soaring. Many businesses are located and operate at the airport, and many people are employed there.

In an area with limited large meeting areas, I am very grateful to Hutt Aviation for their offer to loan their large hangar for a big fundraiser next May to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Carson Valley. I know they've done this for non-profit organizations in our valley before.

This month many Douglas County school kids will be treated to an aviation education day at the airport. They will experience a flight simulator, a space capsule, and have many other exciting and educational aeronautical opportunities.

I am grateful for what our airport does and brings to our community. A special thank you to Hutt Aviation. I look forward, to our big Mumbo Gumbo concert and Carson Valley Rib Cook Off, May 21, 2011 at the airport.
