On Tuesday, Douglas County planning commissioners were able to wrap up their work on the master plan update within roughly 90 minutes, which was one of their shortest meetings. They’re meeting again on Nov. 17 to do the final work and then will forward the plan to county commissioners.
Douglas County school board trustees awarded a bid to Key Bank to refinance $11.9 million in bonds, decreasing the interest by around $600,000. Bond advisor said the 1.34 percent interest rate is locked down.
There was a long line at the coronavirus testing and flu clinic held at the community center in Gardnerville when I visited on Tuesday. Douglas has 33 active cases and 428 recoveries as of Tuesday night. The governor issued a new stay-at-home order on Tuesday in an effort to tamp down the virus statewide.
Local, state and federal offices are closed today for Veterans Day. The schools and the post office are closed today.
